National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP)

 

The National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP) which came into effect from 15th August,1995 represents a significant step towards the fulfillment of the Directive Principles in Article 41 of the Constitution. The programme introduced a National Policy for Social Assistance for the poor and aims at ensuring minimum national standard for social assistance in addition to the benefits that states are currently providing or might provide in future. NSAP at present, comprises of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS), Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) and National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS)

·                       IGNOAPS80 Beneficiaries (Age above 80 years) –(@ Rs. 1000/month)

·                       IGNOAPS60 Beneficiaries (Age above 60 & below 80 years –(@ Rs. 400/month)

·                       IGNWPS Beneficiaries – (@ Rs. 600/month)

·                       IGNDPS Beneficiaries –(@ Rs. 600/month)

·                       NFBS –(@ Rs. 40000/- one time)

 

Eligibility is as per SECC online waiting list. No manual application is allowed.

 

Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme

The eligibility criteria under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS 60) is:

  • 1.     The age of the applicant (male or female) should be 60 years or above and below 80 years.

  • 2.    The applicant should belong to a household living below the poverty line according to the criteria prescribed by the Govt. of India

The eligibility criteria under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS 80) is:

  • 1.     The age of the applicant (male or female) should be 80 years or above.

  • 2.    The applicant should belong to a household living below the poverty line according to the criteria prescribed by the Govt. of India

Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme

The eligibility criteria under Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) is:

  • 1.      The applicant must be a widow in the age group of 40-59 years.

  • 2.    The applicant should belong to a household living below the poverty line according to the criteria prescribed by the Govt. of India

  

Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme

 

The eligibility criteria under Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) is:

  • 1.     The applicant must be in the age group of 18-59 years.

  • 2.     The applicant should be a person with severe or multiple disabilities

  • 3.    The applicant should belong to a household living below the poverty line according to the criteria prescribed by the Govt. of India

 

  

National Family Benefit Scheme

 

National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) is a component of National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). Under National Family Benefit Scheme, Assistance is given in the form of lump sum family benefit for households below the poverty line on the death of the primary breadwinner in the bereaved family. A assistance by way of a lump sum family benefits provided under NFBS subject to the following conditions.

The primary bread winner is to be the member of the household (male and female) whose earnings contribute substantially to the total household income.

The death of such a primary breadwinner should have occurred while he or she is more than 18 yrs. of age and less than 65 yrs. of age.

The bereaved household qualifies as one below the poverty line according to the criteria prescribed by the Government of India.

The amount of assistance under the above scheme is Rs. 40000/ one time in case of death of primary breadwinner due to natural or accidental causes. The family benefit is paid to such surviving member of the household of the deceased who, after local enquiry is determined to be the head of the household

Household should not fall under Auto Exclusion criteria. Deprivation level is also to be verified.
